The Ark of the Covenant – a journey full of mysteries

The Ark of the Covenant, or Ark, is one of the most compelling mysteries of human civilization.

Well documented in the Bible and other significant historical books, it has played a major role in numerous cultures, dating back to the time of ancient Egypt.

Let’s explore the Ark further and follow its journey through time!

The Ark of the Covenant and the Holy Scriptures

The Bible refers to the Ark of the Covenant, the power of God, many times and provides vivid images of certain phenomena associated with it.

It was described as having a whirlwind of fire or clouds above it and it is assumed that the power of God was given to man.

When the Hebrews crossed the desert during their exile from Egypt, they carried with them a temporary tent, used specifically to house the Ark, known as the Tabernacle.

The depictions of the Tabernacle show a whirlwind of clouds rising from behind the tent, above the place where the Ark was kept.

A direct reference to the whirlwind above the Tabernacle is found in Numbers 14:14: “… and that You go before them by day in a pillar of cloud, and by night in a pillar of fire.”

The Ark of the Covenant pillar of fire

We also find warnings in the Bible about what would happen if someone approached the Ark without taking the proper precautions.

Leviticus 16:2 says: “And the Lord said to Moses, ‘Tell Aaron your brother not to come at all times into the holy place behind the veil before the atonement that is on the Ark of the Testimony, lest he die, for I will appear above the mercy seat in the cloud.’”

Moses was described as following the whirlwind of cloud or fire, all the way out of Egypt and across the Red Sea, as recorded in Exodus 13:21, “The Lord went before them in a pillar of cloud to lead them on the way, and in a pillar of fire by night to give them light, so that they might travel by day or by night…Neither the pillar of cloud by day nor the pillar of fire left its place before the people.”

Again, we see a description of the vortex created by God. However, those familiar with biblical history will notice something that doesn’t seem to fit.

According to the Bible, Moses built the Ark of the Covenant at the base of Mount Sinai after receiving detailed instructions from God.

But Moses and the Jewish people left Egypt and crossed the Red Sea before reaching Mount Sinai, so how could the whirlwind have followed if that Ark had not yet been built?

To answer this question, we need to go back in time. Moses was the son of Pharaoh for 40 years and was initiated into the highest levels of the Egyptian priesthood before he realized that he was actually an adopted son and that he was of Jewish origin.

He then left with the cohorts of Israel, after being given permission by the king of Egypt.

However, something happened that made the king of Egypt “change his mind” and go after Moses and the Israelites with his army.

Evidence suggests that the origin of the “pillar of cloud/fire” that guided Moses may have been a sacred object with unusual powers, taken from an Egyptian temple, or even from the pyramids.

It is possible that the power source of the Ark of the Covenant was not a Hebrew object, but an object that Moses took from Egypt before leaving with the Jewish people.

A condenser (box) was later built at the foot of Mount Sinai so that it could be protected and defended during their long journey through the desert.

Egypt

A box with several boxes inside

Contrary to popular belief, no mummy or other human remains have ever been found in a sarcophagus inside the pyramids of Egypt.

It is very likely that these monuments were built for purposes other than those related to funerary practices.

The sarcophagus in the King’s Chamber, located in the Great Pyramid of Giza, is of the correct dimensions so that the Ark of the Covenant, according to the specific dimensions described in the Bible, could be lowered into it.

A remarkable fact about the so-called sarcophagus is that the interior volume, which is carved with machine-like precision, is exactly half the exterior volume.

Egyptian history mentions the “boxes of the kings” as being almost identical to the Ark of the Covenant, indicating the notion that these boxes, or Arks, were of Egyptian origin.

The Ark of the Covenant box

Graham Hancock, who has conducted one of the most comprehensive studies of the history and location of the Ark of the Covenant, published in his well-documented book, The Sign and the Seal: The Search for the Lost Ark of the Covenant, comes to similar conclusions.

Another curious fact: most statues of pharaohs are usually depicted as walking with their left foot forward and their fists clenched around two bars.

And it would be natural for pharaohs to be depicted this way, if the Ark were the center of their power source and led to alignment with the Sun Gods.

The Ark of the Covenant and Gravity Control

It seems that as Moses led the Israelites out of Egypt into the Holy Land, he followed a vortex-producing energy source, the pillar of cloud by day and fire by night, later associated with the Ark.

However, it seems that this energy source was removed from Egyptian possession without the containment box surrounding it (only someone initiated to the highest levels of the priesthood could do this).

Thus, the energy source was exposed from the moment Moses left Egypt until the new casing, the Ark of the Covenant, was fabricated at the base of Mount Sinai.

A new question arises: did this Ark possess advanced technology that controlled gravity, and thus could giant stones be moved with apparent ease (far beyond what can be achieved even today) and pyramids and other ancient temples built?

Here are some accounts of the forces generated by the Ark of the Covenant:

  • the sacred relic was carried on the shoulders of the Kohathites (sons of Kohath), a sub-clan of the cohort of Levi, to which both Moses and Aaron belonged;
  • these bearers were occasionally killed by the “sparks” emitted by the Ark (according to several Jewish legends);
  • the bearers were lifted from the ground from time to time, because the Ark of the Law had the power to carry them, as well as itself;
  • through the power of the Ark, the Red Sea parted and the Jewish people were able to cross it;
  • after the death of Moses, Joshua crossed the Jordan River, also with the help of the Ark: “The priests who carried the ark of the covenant of the Lord stood on dry ground in the middle of the Jordan, their feet on dry ground; and the children of Israel walked on dry ground, until all the people had passed over the Jordan” (Joshua 3:17).

Solomon’s Temple was built to house the Ark of the Covenant in its inner sanctuary – the Holy of Holies.

The Holy of Holies is described as being built in the center of a concentric courtyard with very thick walls that isolate it from the uninitiated population, which is covered with gold on the outside and inside.

This is again reminiscent of the condenser boxes found in the Egyptian pyramids.

Many precautions were taken both for the safety of the high priests and for the security of the Ark, so that the initiate could survive the situation of entering a room with an extremely energetic object.

There was specific clothing and breastplate with various precious stones, the exposed skin was properly anointed with specific oils.

The Ark of the Covenant priest

The high priest could only enter the Holy of Holies during the feast of Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement.

Was there any account of similar situations in Egyptian traditions that would confirm that this ability was available to them as well?

Of course, the millions of huge stone blocks found throughout Egypt, some weighing over 1,000 tons, are evidence that extremely massive objects appear to have been moved with remarkable ease and precision, at a time when human beings had only archaic tools and techniques.

However, an account of an incident involving a lost jewel in Early Dynastic Egypt bears a striking resemblance to the Hebrew account of the crossing of the Red Sea and the Jordan River.

According to Sir Ernest Alfred Thompson Wallis Budge, knighted for his contributions to Egyptology in 1920, the 4th Dynasty pharaoh Seneferu, while on a boat trip with about 20 maidens, ordered his high priest Tchatcha-em-ankh to retrieve a jewel that had fallen into the water.

The high priest then spoke a few words, parted the water of the lake, found the jewel, then spoke a few words again and the water returned to its place.

The writings of Sir Isaac Newton

From Sir Isaac Newton’s private writings we know that he believed that important secret information about the universe was encoded in ancient Egyptian and Hebrew texts and symbols, as well as in the building plan of Solomon’s Temple.

He went so far as to learn ancient Hebrew in order to translate some of the biblical texts and various other documents, and even built a replica of the plan of Solomon’s Temple (which can still be found at Babson College Library).

Furthermore, Newton clearly stated in his private writing the source of inspiration for his discoveries.

Clearly, Newton believed that there was secret scientific knowledge embedded in ancient traditions, building practices, and architecture that was essential to the rediscovery and application of our modern understanding and development.

Essential elements of this belief were Egyptian traditions and Solomon’s Temple which housed the Ark of the Covenant and, according to his own writings, informed him about gravitational forces.

Order of the Knights Templar

The more recent history of the Ark’s journey brings us to the Order of the Knights Templar.

The true title of this order is “Poor Soldiers of Christ and of the Temple of Solomon,” although it is more commonly known as the Templars.

Founded in 1118, it is unclear what its primary purpose was. Some sources suggest that it had roots in earlier religious orders related to the Cathars of southern France.

The name “Cathar” comes from the Greek “katharos”, meaning “pure ones”. They are said to have roots directly linked to the Ark of the Covenant and to be the protectors of a secret lineage that went back to Jesus Christ.

The Templars started out with very modest means and were considered the knights of the people with low-income, their emblem being two knights on a horse, as they were too poor to afford a horse for each knight.

Despite their lack of wealth, they remained very dedicated to their order. After the Crusades, the Templars immediately went to the holy city of Jerusalem.

It is said that their official purpose was to protect the route from Europe to Jerusalem for the safety of European pilgrims.

Upon their arrival in Jerusalem in 1119 AD, their first action makes it seem as if their mission was much different from that initially suggested.

The Templars established themselves in the Al-Aqsa Mosque adjacent to the Dome of the Rock. For seven years, they dug several tunnels and roads under the Temple Mount, many of which are still intact today.

Al-Aqsa Mosque

The strategic location of their settlement and their initial actions reveal their true intention: to find, recover, and bring to Europe the Ark of God’s Covenant, eventually called the Chalice or Holy Grail.

Most historians agree that the Templars may have found something extremely significant under the Dome of the Rock.

Although they did not find the Ark of the Covenant, they most likely found documents associated with it.

Upon their return to Europe, they applied the knowledge they had gained from what was found under the Temple Mount, beginning the era of Gothic architecture.

The impressive Chartres Cathedral in France best exemplifies this style of construction.

In his book The Sign and the Seal, Graham Hancock makes a strong case for the removal of the Ark from Solomon’s Temple just before the Babylonian invasion of 587 BC.

Many historians believe that the Ark was transferred to the Essenes at Qumran, as recorded in the Copper Scrolls found at the Dead Sea.

The Ark of the Covenant in Ethiopia

After the Ark was moved from Solomon’s Temple, Hancock traces its path to the Nile River and Elephantine Island, downriver in Ethiopia, then to Lake Tana, and finally to its resting place in Axum, Ethiopia, in the small chapel of Saint Mary of Zion.

Long after those events, while the Templars were digging beneath the Temple Mount, some scholars believe that they may have been contacted by Prince Lalibela of Ethiopia, then in exile in Israel, who claimed that Ethiopia was the home and resting place of the Ark of the Covenant.

Hancock suggested, based on his research, that the Templars made a deal with Prince Lalibela to help him regain control of his country in exchange for direct access to the Ark.

Evidence of the passage of the Knights Templar is found in Ethiopia in various churches and monuments: Templar crosses and other artifacts.

There are also folkloric legends about white, blue-eyed, blond-haired people who came to Ethiopia during this period.

Graham Hancock went to the chapel of St. Mary of Zion as part of his investigation into the history of the Ark of the Covenant.

This chapel is home to a monk who stands at the gate as guardian of the Ark for his entire life.

Chosen by the high priests of Ethiopia as being pure of heart, he is the only person allowed to approach or see the Ark.

The Ark of the Covenant in Ethiopia

Amazingly, Hancock managed to interview him. He asked him about the power of the Ark, to which the monk replied, “Did you see the obelisk? How do you think it was built? The Ark was used. The Ark and the fire from heaven. Men alone could never have done such a thing.”

The obelisk the Ark keeper was referring to is a 500-foot-tall, 500-ton stone that stands next to the chapel.

This massive megalithic obelisk is also reminiscent of the structures left behind by the ancient civilizations we discussed earlier.

The Knights Templar in Europe

Now we can trace the Templars back to Europe, bringing with them their newfound knowledge and perhaps even the Ark of the Covenant.

There is evidence that they may have used the Ark to transport or structure water throughout Europe.

The waterways beneath Chartres Cathedral were diverted to culminate at the altar in the center of the cathedral. The altar would have been where the Templars kept the Ark of the Covenant, effectively transporting all the water that passed beneath it.

In France in particular we can find all sorts of legends of miraculous healing water. Many other cathedrals and chapels in the region of France have waterways underneath them.

It was also common in ancient temples and pyramids around the world, which were usually built near rivers, to divert their flow through the monument.

It seems that the Templars used the Ark to build various amazing cathedrals in a short time, while also using its ability to charge water.

The Knights Templar became very powerful at an extremely rapid pace. Called the bankers of Europe, they had a great influence on various levels of European markets and politics.

The Knights Templar in Europe

Their power became a threat to the King of France and the Pope. So, on Friday, October 13, 1307, action was taken.

King Philip IV and Pope Clement V launched a campaign against the Templars and began to capture, torture, and kill thousands of members on the grounds that they were devil worshipers, gay people, and heretics. Their property and money were confiscated.

However, it is said that before King Philip IV issued the arrest warrant, the “Templar treasure” (most likely the Ark) was rescued and transported in a hay wagon.

Some Templars managed to escape to neighboring countries, Germany, England, Scotland, and perhaps Switzerland, bringing with them their knowledge and probably the Ark of the Covenant.

During this same period of history we begin to see new orders emerging in the countries surrounding France. The Rosicrucian Order and Freemasonry which emerged in Scotland are some of the most notable orders.

The new organizations were similar to the Knights Templar, under a new disguise to avoid persecution. These new orders were used by the Templars to continue to spread their knowledge.

Ancient origins in modern times

Moving on, the entire body of knowledge initially associated with the Templars continued through the ages shrouded in secrecy and mysticism, eventually reaching America, the new found land.

The Founding Fathers of the United States were very powerful men, all Freemasons, who developed the new world with this legacy of information.

Washington D.C. contains the Washington Monument (an Egyptian-style obelisk), and the very specific geometry encoded in the city’s structure contains esoteric information that harks back to the power of the Ark.

The Ark of the Covenant Ancient origins

Information about the Ark was considered esoteric and magical until the Freemasons built the capital of the United States.

To this day, the highest level of initiation in the Rosicrucian and Freemason orders is to bow before a model of the Ark, to be present before it.

The implications of this information are very present throughout history and even appear on the $1 bill. On one side, we see a shape that resembles an Egyptian pyramid with 13 different levels of stone, with the all-seeing eye (a sphere with a black dot in the middle).

$1 bill

On the other hand, we see a crest composed of 13 stars, describing the dynamics and geometry of the structure of space.

These are not statements based on speculation. They are the result of careful historical analysis, tracing the path of a great source of power and admiration that has its roots in ancient Egypt and even earlier (possibly Atlantis) and which influenced most ancient civilizations around the world.

Today, the rock on which the Ark of the Covenant rested in Solomon’s Temple lies beneath the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem. Islamic tradition considers the Dome of the Rock a holy site, believing it to be the site of the ascension of Mohammad.

It is no wonder that the Dome of the Rock, formerly the site of the Holy of Holies and the home of the Ark, is where Islamic and Jewish traditions intersect.
